Rad Reading – December

For the month of December I read the book Thunderhead By Neal Shusterman.

Thunderhead is a sequel to Scythe, a dystopian where humans are immortal, and death is controlled by people called scythes. The ruler is a being called the Thunderhead, who has divine knowledge that humans coded. The Thunderhead can’t communicate with the scythes or cause death. The two main characters, Rowan, and Citra, become scythe apprentices at the start, and become scythes at the end.

My favorite quote was on the first chapter,

“The world is a flower I hold in my palm. I would end my own existence rather than crush it.”

-The Thunderhead

This quote is meaningful to me because it demonstrates the power that the Thunderhead has, and makes me think if the artificial intelligence we have today could evolve into something like that.

Summary

I only read half of the book, so I can not provide a summary

My favorite character in the book is Rowan, because he uses his power to hunt down the people who abuse theirs. A trait of Rowan is that he is a Crusader.

Focus

My word of intention for 2024 is “focus.”

I want to commit myself to focusing on school more than playing video games and watching movie series. A lot of the time I ignore my homework and procrastinate until the deadline, which leaves me with a bad grade. I also doze off when some of my teachers are talking, which makes me forget what they were saying, and leaves me with no direction on what I need to do.

Starting now, I will focus on school and get my G.P.A. to at least a three and a half.

The Ninja Lizard

It was a fine day in the forest, the bunnies hopping and scavenging for food, and the owls sleeping, waiting for dusk, to awaken. One particular lizard in the forest wasn’t like the others. It was always the odd one out for choosing fight instead of flight. The lizard had never faced any certain danger, but always tried to make itself prepared for anything. “You won’t stand a chance to a predator ten times your own size!” The others would say. This lizard would not care about comments like this, until one day, the one taking place right now. A mouse had came and thought the lizard would be an easy meal, and to the mouse’s surprise, the lizard did not fight, but instead hung on a branch and stared into its eyes. The mouse was not intimidated, but the lizard wasn’t either. The mouse pounced on the lizard! But the lizard dodged it and ran onto its back! The lizard wrapped its arms around the mouse’s neck until it started to try to escape! The lizard let go and ran away. This was the first fight that the lizard had experienced, and from then on, he knew he was able to fight. This lizard would be known to all lizards of the forest. His name, was Ninja Lizard.

My Thanksgiving Commitment

There are three things I am thankful for; my chickens, my family, and my computer.

I am thankful for my chickens because they bring happiness to my life. Chickens are protective to other members of their flock, and will stand up against larger predators to protect their children. The thought of it is enough to make me feel joy. Chickens also like to roam free and explore as much as they can, they like to jump around and perch on anything they can perch on. Chickens can even say goodnight to each other. Chickens are the best prey creature I can ever think of and I love them.

My family is something I value more than anything. My parents will help me on homework if I ask them for help, and make sure to address assignments I have missing if I forget about them. My parents also iron, and wash my clothes, set up the dinner table, and close my chickens’ gate whenever I forget. My parents help me manage my time on devices with screens, and help me with sleeping at the right time. My family is something that I will always love, and I wouldn’t wish to swap anyone out of it.

The last thing I am thankful for is my computer. My computer is a place where I spend a lot of my day at. The keyboard and mouse are my preferred controls for most of the work I do, and I complete my homework faster there. I usually play games at the computer when I am stressed to take a break, and work on the homework after. Having a computer is expensive, so I make sure to make the most out of it.

If I Was The School Overlord

If I was the school Principal for a day, the first thing I would do would be to setup an event for homeroom where you can play with different types of birds. This list would include the following: A silkie chicken, a duckling, an ostrich chick, a Lilac Crowned Parrot Jalisco, and a Mourning dove. The second thing I would do would be to add Track and Field in the spring as a second running sport. As the principal, I would have detentions end with a challenge problem, depending on the grade of the students. The fourth thing I would do would be to add a day specifically for missing assignments every end of each quarter. The last thing I would do would be to enforce class pets.

Rad Reading – October

For the month of October, I read, but not finished, the book Stung by Bethany Wiggins.

Stung is a dystopia where bee population starts to lower. Because of this, the government breeds new bees, however, the bee stings can be deadly. Vaccines are made for the stings, but they make the person who got vaccinated act ferociously and aggressively. The world goes down from there. People are enslaved. People are killed. People become mad.

The book opens up with a woman named Fiona escaping a group of people trying to kill her. She meets someone who she is “interested” in, and he helps her survive. Fiona remembers herself being 13 years old although is reminded by others that her body says otherwise. Eventually she comes back to her home, to see it destroyed, as well as her brother who is a mindless monster.

That was as far as I read, I didn’t take the book home to read it longer.

There weren’t any good quotes I could find in the book too, the tone of STUNG never had a happy feeling to it.

Three Feathery Wishes

If I had the option of being granted three wishes, they would all be related to chickens. It has been my dream to make chickens more than just nuggets and eggs, and since I have the power, my dreams will become reality.

My first wish would be to make chickens the most powerful creature on earth. This means that chickens will become smarter, stronger, and larger. Chickens will replace lots of pets, and will even be trained to go to the restroom to poop. They will also be used in farming for pest control by giving the chicken a food source to carry. The chickens will be able to grab objects with their feet like parrots, and pounce on enemies with their talons and using their weight.

My second wish would be to make myself a chicken forever. I would have all of the benefits I had made for chickens in the first wish. I would be a three-and-a-half foot tall rooster.

Lastly, my third wish would be to make a steakhouse to rival Chick-fil-A, where the mascot is a grammatically correct chicken who has zero spelling or punctuation mistakes.

One Day as a Chicken

If I could be anyone or anything in the world for one day, I would be a silkie rooster.

A Silkie Bantam is a fluffy breed of chicken that originated from Southeast Asia (in places like Japan, China, and India.)

I would want to be a chicken (and especially a rooster) because I could roam around in the grass protecting my flock by dropkicking enemies with my sharp talons. Another reason why I would want to be a chicken is so I could see baby chicks grow up. I could also eat grains for the whole day and have no consequences for it.

Being a Silkie chicken means I can have more warmth than other chickens and have better grip because I would have 5 toes. Being a Silkie is also good because I would look cool too with blue earlobes, gray skin, fluffy feathers, fluffy legs, and a sick hairstyle! I would also be more used to the ground because of a lack of flight.

Lastly, I would say goodnight to the hens, and wake up to go back to my 7th grade Californian life.

My Perfect 24 hours

My perfect day would be on a Friday. I would go to sleep at 12:30 am, and wake up at 6:55. At 7:05 am, I would spring out of bed, go straight to the shower and shower for 20 minutes. After, I would wear one of my many chicken shirts, and then go downstairs. When I go downstairs, I would play video games until I was ready for school. During. P.E. We would have free play, and I would play freeze tag with my friends. After P.E. I would go to my elective class and finish all work I had so I could solve math problems for fun. Then, I would go to my core class for 3rd period, and read a good book, preferably a dystopian one. In core I would be able to talk to my friends during free time. The recess bell would ring and I would go to the bench I usually go to to talk with my friends. After recess I would go back to core class, and be the first person there. When core class is finished, my next class would be science and I would learn something cool and interesting. Then I would go to lunch and go to the club I go to on Fridays, and eat pasta and soy beans. When lunch ends, I would go to art and make some doodles on my papers. Art would end and I would go to math class, where I would learn a new subject and different equations to experiment with. After math ends, I would go home and feed my chickens. My sister would not annoy me, and I would play video games, go outside to check on my chickens, and repeat until dinner time, where I would eat a baked potato with steak and asparagus. Then, I would play video games a bit longer, read, and go to bed.

This whole cycle happens almost every day and I would not want to change anything about it (except my little sister because she annoys me tooooo much and never touches grass)!

My Choice for Immortal Age

If I could stay at any specific age for eternity, I would stay at age thirteen. One reason I would stay at this age is so that I could play video games as much as I want without having to pay taxes or get a job. Another reason I would stay this age is because I would have an able body and would be fit enough to run, fight, climb, and do other athletic activities. If I was thirteen, I would be able to make money with lemonade and barbecue stands. I could be at the age to buy things, like food, movie tickets, water, and most importantly… Chickens! With chickens, I could make multiple flocks with strong roosters to create the ultimate army of cocks to protect my house. My home will be made from wood and dried grass stuck together to make a small barn-looking home. With these necessities I would try to be the best at every video game to exist.
